Buyer's Guide
Understanding Hides, Skins & Leather
A few trade terms that help you specify exactly the leather you need.
Hides & Skins
Hides come from large animals such as cattle. Skins come from smaller animals such as goats, sheep and kangaroos. Both are the raw material that leather is made from.
Finished Leather
Leather that has been tanned, dyed and given its final surface finish, ready for manufacturers to cut and sew. This is what we supply.
Grain & Finish
Full-grain leather keeps the natural surface of the skin. Corrected-grain leather is lightly buffed and finished for a more uniform look.
Tell us the thickness, colour, finish and intended use you need, and we will confirm what we can supply.
